Your Head Start Program in South Morang

Our Head Start education programme provides a mixture of spontaneous and planned learning that is focussed around each individual child’s needs and interests and is based upon state government Kindergarten  requirements, the federal government Early Years  Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Emergent curriculum. It begins on your child’s first day in our centre and ensures they get the best start to their education.

In their first five years your child will develop and learn much faster than at any other age. It is therefore critical that education programmes involving young children are individualised and of high quality. We provide your child with an environment in which your child’s development can be encouraged and stimulated.

Our qualified educators implement individual education programmes for each and every child. Your child’s programme is based on observing your child as a whole and focuses on the developmental norms of each child through their stages of development. From these formal observations our educators set individual objectives for your child to support their continual development.  We ensure that your child’s strengths and interests are always catered for.  We utilise both the indoor and outdoor environments in the delivery of our programme.

By the age of six, your child’s development in their areas of social competence and self-esteem/self-concept will have an enormous influence on their future and needs to be actively developed with your child. These skills include: gaining confidence in a variety of situations; the ability to communicate with adults and peers; the ability to express ideas and concerns; and perseverance and a willingness to try things even when unsure about the outcome.

Your child will be encouraged to develop confidence, independence, self-awareness and a feeling of self-worth. They will become more aware of the world around them and have many opportunities to develop warm, caring relationships with other adults, as well as friendships with other children.

All of our experiences are based on play, and on interacting with the environment, with peers and with adults. These are the most important ways in which children learn.

The best outcomes for your child are achieved when educators work in close partnership with you the parents. We will continue to work closely with you in gathering and implementing your feedback in relation to you and your child’s needs.

We provide a safe and nurturing environment in which our qualified educators will implement our Head Start educational programme to help your child develop a strong sense of self, self-worth, identity with family and community, robust communication abilities, creativeness and an understanding of learning and its applications.

Part of our Head Start programme is the inclusion of a 3 year old Kindergarten programme. This is not government funded, however, we believe that an educational programme developed by early childhood teachers is an important part of excellence in early learning and education.
